Boise Moving Company-Make Your Move Easy
Picture getting up at 5 AM, to carefully wrap all of your heirloom china, and other delicate possessions. See yourself lifting that heavy couch down those treacherous spiraling staircases. Now, change all of it to include professional movers who perform this physically demanding job on a regular basis, and have all the insight and knowledge a professional mover has, performing all that hard labor for you. I agree, you should hire a Boise moving company.
The Bare Facts About Why You Should Let The Pros Take Care Of Your Move
Nobody I know would ever say that moving is a cinch or that it wasn’t any trouble at all. If that were the case, you would always have willing bodies to help you move when you do. Processing paperwork for a move and taking careful care of your loved ones in the process is frequently so demanding that it doubles the hassle of moving. This is precisely why you should just let the professional moving companies take care of it all for you. Instead of you spending your only weekend moving stuff with no experience or knowledge in the field, you could easily hire professionals who could handle the job in just a few hours.
With a moving company, all you need to do is book a schedule with them and inform them your moving specifications. The important thing you need to keep in mind is that the professional moving company should be located near your old home than the new one. This way, you can save up time trying to load up stuff rather than transporting them already. Some moving companies would even be the ones to wrap up all your belongings for you prior to moving them.
Important Considerations Before You Hire Your Boise Moving Company
As with any professional service you hire, you should consider how long they have been in business, where they are located at, how much they will charge you and if they can provide the names of any satisfied customers for you to call. Once you have made up your mind, you be able to easily schedule you preferred date and time, with them, and get a receipt.
Anther important factor in hiring your moving company is insurance and licensing. In some states movers are required to have both, but in Idaho, they don’t have to have either. Still, you should require as a customer that they at least have insurance to cover any potential catastrophes that like is know for presenting at inopportune times.
Comparing costs estimates is another good way to make sure you get what you pay for. Paying a little extra for more service is not always a bad idea, but if you are on a strict budget you may need to choose the low bidder. Keep in mind some costs will probably not change much with factors like distance, fuel costs and the size and scale of your move being on the short list.

Lets Talk Quote Moving Company

Donna asks…
Self-packing moving companies….?
We are fixing to move from Az to Tn. I found a moving company, upack.com, where you pack your own things into their truck then they pack dry cargo in the rest of the truck and ship the cargo while they are moving your things to where you need them to go. The main things that we like about this is that your things are the only things that are in the truck, seperated from the cargo by a “wall”, and we do all the packing. I have been quoted approx. $2500.00 for my move.
How does this sound to everyone? Has anyone used this company or one similar to it? How was your experience good/bad?
I have looked it up with the BBB and found that they are a member with a decent record.

Dennis Carter answers:
We’re moving from NY to NC in a few weeks and using u-pack. They are a division of ABF trucking and have been in business a long time. I checked out everything from professional movers to renting a u-haul, and u-pack is actually cheaper than anything. We like that you don’t have to drive a huge truck.

Sandy asks…
I am moving from my one bedroom apartment to another one bedroom apartment. Approx how much would it cost to?
Have a moving company help me move?
I have a couple of dressers, entertainment system, couch, treadmill, and dining room table. Approximately how much would they charge. I called them for a quote and they would have to send someone to my place. Do you know about how much they usually charge? My new place is less than 2 miles away. Me and my hubby really need an answer to this one.
Nobody we know is available to help. The one guy who said that he would help is now suddenly not available. His brother has to work. We really can’t find anyone. That’s why we wanted a ballpark figure.

Dennis Carter answers:
It’s really based off of several factors. How much stuff, how big the stuff is (how big of a truck you’ll need), how many people they’ll have to send and where your moving. It really does require them to come view the property and figure out how many boxes in addition to your big items. Just make an appt. To get an estimate.

Linda asks…
Do moving companies request copy of customer’s drivers license?
The company offered me a binding quote. I’ve already paid a deposit by credit card. I’ll be paying the remaining amount by cash. They still request a credit card authorization form to be signed by me along with a copy of my driver’s license. Is this normal?
Thanks for the reply. I want to clarify that I’m not renting a vehicle. I’m just hiring a moving company to move my stuff and they will be the ones driving their own truck. That is why I’m concerned as to why they need my driver’s license copy.

Dennis Carter answers:
Yes about every place wants a copy of your DR’s any more it seems or a State ID with other proof. Any type of rental place requires a license if your going to be the driver.
Here is a hint for others that rent a car. They try to say you need (their) Ins but its a scam because your Ins. Company covers you. Its not bad idea to pay a few dollars to take cover you for a million dollars of damage with them incase of accident but that optional

Paul asks…
my car died and I’d like to insure my new car with a differant company. is there a penilty.?
we asked to get a quote at a different company & were told that we have to stay with the old company until the years up or there’s a $200.00 penalty. I would just cancel the vehicle we’ll no longer be driving but can’t understand why I’m obligated to stay with our currant insurer for a new one. Is this right? We plan to move our house & vehicle insurance when the policy is up.

Dennis Carter answers:
I am not sure. As long as you are currently insured, then most new companies will just ask proof of insurance from the old one to start the new policy so that there is no lapse in coverage. Unless there is some clause in your policy that states there is a $200 penalty for canceling sooner or that there maybe some addtl money owing on your policy that you are unaware of.
Why not call 2 more agents and get quotes and see if they tell you the same or if you can change companies now.
Good luck

Laura asks…
Shipping goods by sea: what do you pay? the crate or the actual volume of your goods?
I am moving overseas and the moving company just sent me its quote for shipping my goods by sea.
The actual volume is approx. 5.6 cbm, but their quote is based on 8cbm because they have to use a crate to “securely” ship my belongings.
I just wanted to know if it was the common practice (i.e., billing based on the volume of the crate used instead of the actual volume of goods) ??
Thanks a ton !!

Dennis Carter answers:
Not sure if this is going to help. I had my house contents shipped from Scotland to Asia four years ago, I had a clear out before hand but still filled a 40′ container. Packing, Insurance, paperwork for customs etc.,shipping came to a grand total of £4000.
I was very happy with the packing not a thing was broken, however they did deliver it to the wrong country when I found out they got it to me within five days. You should also be able to track the ship or container.
Ask you shipping agent to explain the charges beforehand. Good luck.

navy dity move from oregon to virginia?
and i have no idea how its going to work to get approved for the move. my husband is in the navy stationed in virginia, im in oregon now with our 6 week old son
i called a moving company and they sent me a paper to get approved? but my husband has no idea where he is supposed to take it and someone told him he needed another piece of paperwork? does anyone know where he is supossed to go to get a dity move approved for the navy? or what phone number he can call that will help him? i dont know why this is so hard to figure out but please help!!! i couldnt move to be with him sooner because i was 8 months pregnant when he got stationed
we cannnoott afford to pay someone ourselves to move it and because i have a 6 week old i cant drive everything. . .please help!!

Dennis Carter answers:
JJPSO Office is the place he needs to go to, to get everything set up including approval for the PPM (DITY) move. Standard is a copy of the orders and then if done the form to do a PPM.
You don’t have to do a PPM Move, the military will pay for it including hiring professional movers to come pack you up and then move the things to Virginia. You don’t have to hirer them at all, he sets it all up there. Then you drive to Virginia and the military will pay for that as well, MALT & Per Diem. It is way to much for you to do just having a baby. The money you could make off a PPM is taxable and in the end it might not make you anything, you still have to pack everything up yourself.

Lets Talk Moving Container Company

John asks…
Tips on moving a salt water fish tank?
I am moving next week into another apartment, within walking distance from where I am living now. I have a 20 gal salt water tank, with 3 clown fish, and a few small crabs. I have 4 pieces of live Figi rock. I have professional movers that will help with the transport of the tank, but I need help with the preparation. The moving company requires the tank to be almost empty. Any ideas on what kinds of containers I could use for my fish? And also, should I even go through the trouble of trying to get my crustaceans out? or just leave the sand in along with a few inches of water and just take my fish out? Any input would be appreciated!

Dennis Carter answers:
Yup lots of buckets…
I think walmart has kitty litter in nice pails with lids and handles.
So fish stores carry buckets and hardware stores.
Speed is the key here….
A 20 gallon is easy …drain half the water into buckets and put the fish, live rock and water every you can dig up crabby wise or leave them.
The tank should weigh about 80 pounds now. Put it on a piece of wood so it rests flat in the car or carry it fast to the new spot.
Dump everyone in carefully and hook it back up.
If you keep at least 70% of the original water you shoud be good.
Good luck

Robert asks…
Stained granite! Left a container of frozen blueberries on counter, and didn’t know there was a hole. Help!?
Moving out of apartment. Pulled the container out last night to throw away, and just walked in kitchen. Purple juice all over counter. Wiped it up, and the granite is all stained. Wonder if time will release the color or if there is any product or anything I can do now? Please help, as I am meeting with the management company today about moving out. Should be in the next couple weeks. Do not want to for go my security deposit because of some dumb situation like this.
thanks – jp

Dennis Carter answers:
This works on Marble, so hope it helps.
Mix equal quantities of hydrogen peroxide, ammonia and cream of tartar and add sufficient whiting or flour to make a paste. Spread thickly over stain and cover with plastic wrap to keep moist. Leave for 10 hours or more, then remove plastic and leave to dry. When dry, brush off and clean with liquid detergent and clean water. Repeat if necessary. CAUTION: Hydrogen peroxide, unless otherwise stated, must always be diluted with water. Refer to instructions on container.
Ammonia, gives off highly pungent fumes. Wear rubber gloves and avoid breathing the fumes. Wash any splashes from your skin.

George asks…
Any moving advice for me? I’m moving in less than two weeks!?
I have been reading an article & its comments on moving, which I am doing in two weeks. I have learned some new things. Do you have any other advice for me? I have learned the following:
1. Move my valuables/breakables myself.
2. Offer the guys something to drink.
3. Pack up my undies in case the guys are pervs!
4. Take pictures of everything
5. Put false labels on things they might steal. (Label CD’s as “cookbooks” or something like that.)
6. Lock the kitty in the bathroom so he’s out of the way.
Any other advice? My mom and sister used the same company to move them a couple of years ago, and they had a good experience with them. That’s why we’re using them to move me.
One other question: What about tips? Should I tip them? There will be three guys. Would $20 each be a nice tip? If I can’t afford that, should I only give them $10? Or just forget it?

Hello again. ![]()
Yes one important thing this may not apply if your using a Professional movers.
However I would suggest moving house in one day. Ie: load van early in morning and then unload in the late afternoon if you can. This way all your processions are not liable to be stolen if someone decides to steal the movers truck!
Yes move jewellery personal item you can carry yourself and clothes or underwear.
Yes most important to keep the mover happy with cups of tea or whatever they drink.
But don’t get in there way to much organise everything so all they have to do is load up.
Id say 20 is fine although 15 splits 3 way better 20 is just that little bit more about right.
All depends if they break anything lol! Er or not!!

Charles asks…
what’s the best way to manage/complete a 200 mile move?
I’ll be making a 200 mile move. I’ll be packing/moving items from a 3 bed room home, including appliances. I started looking at moving/storage options, like U-Haul, {mpg will be killer for the big truck} besides the do it yourself labor. Using a moving company or using something like PODS, or pack-rat. I noticed u-haul has something like a , self pack, large container. They move or a self move. Any suggestions? Of course, keeping it all within a reasonable budget. Something that’s not a back breaker either! Thanks!!

Dennis Carter answers:
I work for a moving company, most of our business is military but we do some civilian moves. I have a few pieces of advise for you.
Before you do anything, go online and look for a move cube sheet or a pre-move inspection sheet. This usually list everything that people normally have. Companies can also email you one. Go through your house and be very detailed. List on this sheet (if you can’t get one, just write what you have on a regular piece of paper) the sizes of each TV, # of large pictures you have, number of cloests, number and sizes of beds, any major appliance you may have, etc. Try to include as much as you can.
Call around to major moving companies. They can do whats called a “pre-move” with you over the phone to get a basic idea of what you have. If you did the above, you should get a better quote. If you pack yourself, they give you a better price. The company should be able to arrange with you a pick-up date and a delivery date. Try Mayflower, United Van Lines, American International Movers, Atlas, National, etc. Make sure you use a bigger company. One question to ask is if they will pass your shipment off to another company.
I’m not a big fan of the PODS type containers only because you are doing every bit of the work, except the driving. If you have strong friends that don’t mind helping you, it’s ok I guess, but you’re still pretty much responsible for everything. With a moving company, they will have professional movers to load your items correctly and you can get insurance to protect your items. Usually you can get pretty good prices from the major moving companies.

Donna asks…
“Moving” companies question…Does anyone out there know the name of the place that rents …………
those containers that you can load all of your stuff into (say over a week or two) and then will move it to your new house where you will have another week or two to unload it? (I know that it sounds confusing, but I can’t think of how to exxplain it better!)

Dennis Carter answers:
PODS.
Portable On Demand Storage.

Carol asks…
I would like to know how a muslim can sue a company for making them carry alcohol?
If they know that there is alcohol in their place of work, then they must understand that it is part of their job before they start there. Another thing is you find that a lot of off licences are run and managed by muslims. They don’t seem to mind as they are not drinking it, they are just selling it in bottles and cans. So as I said how can anyone sue a company for asking them to do their job of stacking or moving it in containers?
bob, evidently you don’t read the news or watch it on the tv.You may be in the habit of listening to the gossip in the launderette but I neither frequent launderettes or listen to idle gossip.I, unlike you, am up on what is going on in the world and use my mind to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Ruth S. What are you sorry for it was a great answer. May I take this opportunity of wishing you and all a very happy new year

Dennis Carter answers:
Personally, if I was a judge, I would laugh them right out of court!! I also have been in several establishments run by Muslims, WITH liquer AND cigarets! They carry on merrily selling the stuff! I can name some places if someone out there doesn’t believe me! If even a box is distastful to them, they shouldn’t be working there! They cover up their wormen, but I don’t see THEM turning their heads away when a nice looking Western girl passes by! If our way of life turns their stomachs, why do they come over here in the first place? There! I answered your question WITH a question! LOL! Sorry! Happy New Year!!!

Maria asks…
where is a great place to get box’s for moving?
I am moving at the end of the month and don’t want to spend a bunch of money on expensive containers to transport my things. I’ve checked at some big companies like walmart and home depot and they crush their box’s rendering them useless.
Any ideas on stores that would have box’s of different sizes? or any other ideas?
Thanks a bunch

Dennis Carter answers:
Liquor stores are the perfect place. Some of the boxes even have
dividers for drinking glasses, vases, or anything fragile. They are not
too big so you wont overload yourself with carrying too much weight at
one time and risking a back injury. Also heavy duty garbage bags are
great for moving as you can use the bags loaded with linens,
blankets, pillows, clothing, etc to help protect the fragile things like mirrors etc.

Linda asks…
Moving to Sydney in a couple months – should I bring my canoe?
I am moving to Sydney in a couple months from right now, from the United States, and will be living there for 2 years as my company is relocating me. I’m not 100% sure where I’ll be living, but I am thinking Manly, as I want to be close to the beach!
I was wondering if it was worth it to buy a hybrid canoe/kayak from my friend’s company and ship it out to Sydney. My company is paying to ship my stuff out, and there is enough room in my shipping container to put my canoe in, if I choose.
However, I was wondering if it is common for people to canoe along the coast of Sydney nearby the all the beaches and/or the harbor, in their own personal canoe/kayak? Are there any restrictions as to where/when people can canoe or kayak in Sydney? Do people have to get permits to be able to do so? Is it safe to canoe or kayak along the beaches in the ocean water and/or the harbor, or is it a little bit dangerous due to the traffic of ferries and commercial boats, rough waters, or the possibility of sharks? Is there anything else that I should know, in regards to owning a canoe out in Sydney?
Thanks!

Dennis Carter answers:
Berman25, It’s Chris again, save the canoe, leave it at home, you can get all that sort of stuff over there. Those Aussies are real hot when it comes to the water and their sports. If your relocating, look at Manly or Dee Why. If your working in the Central Business District, well then Manly, they have a speedy and regular ferry service from Manly from what I recall.

Lets Talk State To State Moving Company

Helen asks…
Which company is cheapest to go through when U want to move from state to state?
Duluth,Mn to Evansville,In
Any moving tips that might help me make it cheaper too?

Dennis Carter answers:
I’ve moved all over the country and we’ve always used U-haul.
There are U-haul centers everywhere so you pick up the truck in your town and drop it off in the new town. You pay a rental fee based on the size of the truck, you need to return it with the same amount of fuel as when you got it, and you pay mileage, but usually they include the estimated mileage in your rental fee.
If you go to http://www.uhaul.com you can click on reservations and rates and type in where you are moving to and from and get the prices. Good luck!
EDIT: Don’t waste money buying packing boxes from moving companies, they charge outrageous prices! Go to your local grocery store and ask for their boxes and you should be able to get a ton of all shapes and sizes. You might need to go back a few times to get enough boxes. Oh, and in my many many many crosscountry moves I’ve learned that as you pack stuff definately take a marker and label every single box with whats inside, it will make your life so much easier when you get to your new home.

Donna asks…
Found a job in other state. Who should pay for the moving cost?
I found new job in other state. is it required for company to help you with the moving expenses? if not, is it appropriate to negotiate this with the company? What kind of expenses is covered?
This is my first time moving to another state for another job. Any suggestions are mostly welcome.

Dennis Carter answers:
Negotiate as part of you accepting the job that they pay some moving expensese. It is all open for negotiation. They could pay realtor fees (if you have any), costs of professional movers, meals, mileage, etc. You can negotiate whatever you want in order to accept the job.
Some companies will just give you a flat dollar amount, then let you take care of actually getting it done, while others will reimburse for actual expenses (save those receipts).
It depends on how bad you want to move and what that cost means to you.

Lizzie asks…
I would like to know if the company where I’m working at is moving from state?
my conpany name is Brice mfg. co.

Dennis Carter answers:
Why dont you ask your boss?

Ruth asks…
How much is it to do three state tax returns and a federal?
If I use someone like HR Block that is. My wife and I have moved states and I work in another state as well and also there are some other issues in that my wifes company moved her to another office so we sold our house to them etc.
I’d rather give it to a tax advisor to do for 2006 – what do other people think and how much will it cost?

Dennis Carter answers:
Dont go to H&R Block for your situation. They are not that competent. Go to a professional. They will probably charge $400+, but Im sure youd rather get it done the right way.

James asks…
whats’s the best(cheapest) company for an out of state move?
moving from chicago to arizona

Dennis Carter answers:
Good luck. I recenlty moved and hired a moving company who cancelled my move and refuses to give me back my money..(e-mail me and I wil tell you who if you are interested). I checked with several and none were good and none were cheap..I hired the cheapest I found and you see what happened. You could always check the BBB and see if they have a record of complaints or a good record.

Mary asks…
If you have a felony, move to a different State/Region of US, & a company does a check, will they find it?
I was convicted of a “white collar” crime, I’m moving to a different state, in a different region of the US, I was just wondering if a company did a background check on me, will they find the felonly, even though I wasn’t convicted in that state.

Dennis Carter answers:
If the company will conduct a complete background check, all your records could be accessed.
